GZB Prayer bulletin
9 June 2016

Dear partner,

Ephesians 6:18 “With every prayer and petition, pray at all times in the Spirit, and to this end be alert, with all perseverance and requests for all the saints.”

As the GZB meeting day of 2016 is approaching, we are asking you for prayer for this important day. Many partners from Europe will be present, and give a short impression of their work. The focus of the day is the renewal of the church in Europe: The Church Starts Anew! Please pray that the message of our guests will bear fruits in the lives and hearts of the visitors of the day as an inspiration in their own churches.

The new year theme of the GZB will focus on the church in Europe. We have chosen for a positive approach: The Church Starts Anew. We don’t want to only focus on the decline of the church through secularization, but want to be thankful of the continuing work of the Holy Spirit in Europe. As GZB, we want to encourage, support and strengthen the oftentimes small churches in Europe. Your prayer is much appreciated!

Many blessings!

GZB team

GZB Day - this Saturday

As the GZB meeting day is approaching, we are asking your prayers for the following points:

  • Safe travels for our guests to the Netherlands
  • Enough volunteers to help with the program
  • Opportunities for our guests to connect to Dutch church communities
  • Mutual learning from each other in thankfulness of the work of the Spirit

New GZB theme: "The Church in Europe Starts Anew"

This new year theme focuses on hope for Europe. The GZB aims to connect as many people as possible around this theme, and organizes therefore the following activities:

  • Road trip throughout Europe. Seven young people will visit different church-planting initiatives in Germany, Czech Republic, Kosovo, Albania, France and Belgium (6000 km in total!). We will wave them goodbye on the GZB day.
  • Women’s trip to Albania (May 2017)
  • Event for teenagers (November 2017)

Pray for solidarity and the willingness to share the faith with each other within Europe.

Protestant Church in the Netherlands

  • The Protestant Church appointed a new general secretary, René de Reuver. Pray for wisdom as he will take on this important leadership position within the church.
  • The church has adopted a path for the future, called “Vision 2025.” Less focus on church structure and policy, more on relations and network. Pray that this vision might help the church as it prepares for new challenges.

GZB organisation

  • As GZB we want to be a prayerful community around our mission workers and partners. That's why, we started with a new habit: short prayer meetings in the morning (see on the right). Pray that God will work through these meetings.
  • The GZB is currently involved in drafting a new policy plan for the coming five years. We have greatly benefited from the input of our partners, and we want to thank you for your involvement. Please pray for clarity and focus.

What is the Worldwide GZB Prayer Day?

The annual GZB day (this year on June 11) is at the same time Worldwide GZB Prayer Day! We ask all our partners around the globe to pray for the churches in the Netherlands and the GZB. It started as an initiative of our partners in 2015. Thanks for joining us in prayer!

Call for prayer requests

Every day of the workweek, except Wednesday, we start the day with prayer at our office. We want to form a praying community around our mission workers and partners. We would like to encourage you to send in prayer requests, so we can pray for you! Send your prayer requests to info@gzb.nl
