Congo has suffered tremendously from war and violence. As a result, there is great poverty, people have to leave their surroundings and families fall apart.
Health care in eastern Congo is severely weakened by insecurity. Infrastructure in the country is poor: roads are impassable in the rainy season and there is virtually no access to clean water and electricity. Diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis and diarrhea cause many deaths. Many young people receive little education and see their futures as bleak. They are attracted to armed groups and the quick money in the search for gold and other minerals in the dangerous mines.
As a result of the traumatic experiences of violence and difficult living conditions, there is a tremendous need among Christians to be strengthened in faith and keep hope. Children and youth need the support of the church to stand strong in this society. The Pygmies, a minority group in Congo, find it difficult to connect with the church. This population group is considered inferior and discriminated against. They face many economic and social problems.

Our mission in Congo
The church must stand firm in a context of political instability, poverty and a poor state of health care and education. It is our common desire that the local church will bring change and hope to this situation. That the church will live out the gospel of grace in the community as a bringer of healing, improvement of living conditions and hope for the future, even for those living on the margins. The young generation will play a major role in this transformation. We are helping the church grow in discipleship and missionary and diaconal congregational ministry. Specifically, through the sending of medical personnel, we help Christian hospitals of the church be a light in the darkness.
